We just had a porch/patio installed and are trying to keep with a nautical theme. This light filled the bill exactly.
We ordered the 12" model. The size is in reference to the height NOT the diameter. It's stainless steel with a glass globe. The glass globe is quite clear with no imperfections. Initially we put a 100 watt bulb in. WHOA NELLIE! That was way too bright. A 60 watt bulb should be sufficient.
We replaced an existing porch light so installation was easy. You can have it mounted and throwing light within 30 minutes with common hand tools.

The lights arrived quickly and were well packed. They seem to be reasonably heavy duty stainless steel. They are replacing outdoor lights that rusted after a year. They look as if they should do the job.
